CARVER Strategy (one-day training)

Strategy is a word that everyone thinks they know but have a difficult time explaining. The term is ubiquitous in business, sports, politics, and war. Legendary GE CEO Jack Welch once famously stated that “80% of Fortune 500 CEOs were tactical, 18% were strategic, and only 2% were both strategic and tactical.” So, why do we place so much emphasis on what should be considered a simple concept? (at least in definition?) CARVER Strategy provides a proven framework – based up principles of the Intelligence Community (IC) – that is the sounding board against which every decision is bounced.  While everything else might change over time, your strategy is the “true North” of your organization’s proverbial compass.  Unfortunately, as strategy relates to the field of security, the organization’s compass is many times off or not even in use.  CARVER strategy resets that compass.

CARVER Leadership (1.5 day training)

The adage “Leaders are not born, they are made” is a familiar refrain. Similarly, the concept of strategic leadership often accompanies discussions on overarching decision-making. But what truly distinguishes strategic leadership from traditional leadership? In CARVER leadership, we examine the fundamental conditions necessary for managers to lead anywhere between small teams to large organizations. Using the CIA’s CARVER methodology as a tool for quantifying key metrics, this course focuses on formulating and effectively communicating the big ideas to the team, while continuously assessing and refining those ideas.
While it’s arguable that too many leaders prioritize being liked, battle imposter syndrome, or lack the management skills necessary to inspire their teams to progress, CARVER leadership emphases continuous momentum and perseverance.
